The 2010–2016 Oil Pump Defect
Tensioner Wear Behind the Chain Rattle
Your V8 is stripped to component level, with block, cranks and heads crack-tested and measured. Reassembly uses new bearings, the updated oil pump, full chain kits, tensioners and gaskets, a specification stronger than the engine left the factory with.
If pressure loss has already destroyed the bottom end, a reconditioned 448DT is often the quickest route back to the road. Our exchange engines are fully tested, carry the updated oil pump and revised tensioners, and can be shipped UK-wide as bare units or supplied and fitted at our Grays workshop.

4.4 V8 LAND ROVER CAREOn affected 2010–2016 builds, the oil pump can fail suddenly and without prior symptoms, the pressure warning illuminates, and by the time the driver pulls over, big-end and main bearings have already run dry.
Because the failure is internal, no service schedule catches it. Many owners only discover the defect when the engine begins knocking.
Our position is simple: any 448DT rebuild or health check should include the revised pump. It is the single most cost-effective insurance this engine can receive, and we treat it as non-negotiable on every job that passes through the workshop.
A Range Rover V8 is not a candidate for shortcuts. Each rebuild is photographed stage by stage, torque values are recorded, and every machined surface is verified against factory specification before assembly begins.
We road-test and pressure-verify each engine on completion, then release it with written warranty documentation and a full build record you can keep with the vehicle's history file.
