Your engine is dismantled to its last bolt, measured against original tolerances, then rebuilt with new bearings, piston rings, seals, belt kit and gaskets, giving a Freelander, Evoque or Defender drivetrain genuinely dependable second life.
When a crankshaft has run its bearings or a snapped belt has destroyed the valvetrain, rebuilding the original unit is not always economical. We keep tested, reconditioned 224DT engines in stock, available as bare units delivered UK-wide or fully installed at our Grays workshop with warranty included.

2.2 DIESEL ENGINE CAREMost 2.2 TD4 failures trace back to neglected servicing rather than poor design. The cambelt is the critical item: owners often assume it lasts the vehicle's lifetime, and when it lets go, pistons meet valves and the engine is destroyed in seconds.
EGR contamination is the everyday complaint, rough idle, black smoke, sudden limp-home mode and recurring fault codes.
Beyond those, we regularly see leaking injector seals baking carbon around the injector bodies, tired turbochargers on higher-mileage SD4 units, and blocked DPFs on cars used mainly for short journeys.
Main dealers rarely rebuild this engine; they quote for complete new units at prices that often exceed the vehicle's value. Our approach is different, we repair what can be repaired and replace only what measurement proves is worn.
Each engine is crack-tested and pressure-tested before assembly, and every ancillary known to fail, belt kit, water pump, EGR valve, injector seals, is renewed as standard.
