2.0 LAND ROVER DIAGNOSTICSThe single most reported fault is timing chain stretch. On pre-2019 204DTD units the rear-mounted chain can wear prematurely, and because it sits against the gearbox, replacement is labour-intensive, which is why so many owners ignore the early rattle until damage spreads.
Oil dilution is the second major pattern. Short journeys interrupt DPF regeneration, unburnt diesel enters the sump, and oil level rises while lubrication quality collapses.
Left unchecked, this combination destroys crank bearings, turbochargers and eventually the block itself. Catching either symptom early is the difference between a repair and a full replacement.
Every engine is fully stripped, hot-washed and crack-tested before a single new part is ordered. Blocks are measured for bore wear, cranks are polished or reground, and cylinder heads are pressure-tested and skimmed where required.
Reassembly uses genuine or OEM-grade components throughout: uprated timing chain kits, new injector seals, fresh oil pump and revised tensioners that address the original design weaknesses.
